FAQs

How do I know which pieces go together?
The attachments (housings) are color-coded and many pieces are stamped with letters: Click to watch the Unboxing Video.

• Juicer/Frozen Treat: The Juicer/Frozen Treat parts are black and stamped with the letter “J.” The Juice Pulp Filter (perforated filter) and Round Extrusion Cap are used when juicing. The Frozen Treat Blocker (solid screen) and Star Extrusion Cap are used when making frozen treats. Click to watch the Juicer Assembly Video and the Frozen Treat Assembly Video.

• Slicer/Shredder: The Slicer/Shredder parts are dark gray and stamped with the letter “S.” Click to watch the Slicer/Shredder Assembly Video.

• Pasta Maker: These parts are light gray and are stamped with the letter “P” with the exception of the Mixing Chamber, Mixing Chamber Lid, and the Screw Cap. Click to watch the Pasta Maker Assembly Video.

• Meat Grinder: These parts are white and are stamped with the letter “M.” Click to watch the Meat Grinder Assembly Video.

• The chute/tray is shared between the Meat Grinder and Juicer/Frozen Treat housings.

• The black pusher is used with the Meat Grinder and Juicer/Frozen Treat housings. The gray pusher is used with the Slicer/Shredder.

Why does my slicer/shredder not work or falls off?
The Slicer/Shredder blade must be inserted and turned to lock onto the backplate of the main unit. Insert the Slicer/Shredder attachment (housing) into the base unit. The attachment (housing) twists onto the base. Insert the Shredder/Slicer blade onto the attachment (housing) (3 fins). Using the tab on the Shredder/Slicer, twist the blade to the right to lock it into the housing.

If you run the unit in backward mode, the blade will come off.

How can I remove the Juicer/Frozen Treat or Slicer/Shredder housing from the base?
There is a white button on the base that should be pressed to release the attachment (housing). Press the button and twist off the attachment (housing).

Where does the juice come out of the unit?
The juice comes out from the middle bottom of the Juicer/Frozen Treat housing, NOT the front. You must remove the storage tray when juicing and replace it with the Juice Collector. The remains of whatever was juiced will extrude from the front of the unit.

Why is the frozen treat or juice not coming out of the unit?
For frozen treats, check that you used the Frozen Treat Blocker (solid screen) and not the Juice Pulp Filter (perforated filter) in the housing.

For juicing, check that you used the Juice Pulp Filter (perforated filter) and not the Frozen Treat Blocker (solid screen) in the housing.

The fruit or vegetable I am juicing is wrapped around the auger. Is that normal?
It is common for a fruit or vegetable to wrap around the auger. Clean the auger when finished, or, if juicing a large quantity, clean periodically.

Why is there food between the extrusion cap and filter/discs? What can I do?
During juicing, food can get caught between the extrusion cap and filter. Pasta dough may get pushed between the pasta screw cap and the disc. If this happens, you can remove the food by hand or soak in warm water.

How will I know if the pasta dough has the correct amount of liquid?
Pasta dough will easily mix inside the Mixing Chamber and have the consistency of coarse sand with pea-size clumps. The extruded pasta should not look too dry or too flaky along the edges and should evenly extrude from the unit. Be careful not to add too much water because dough that is too wet will form into a ball and the mixing arm will have difficulty pushing it through the Auger Sleeve. See the how-to videos for help with making pasta dough. Click to watch How to Make Pasta Video. You can also click to watch How to Make Perfect Pasta Video Series with Chef Claire to learn how to make 8 different types of pastas.

Dough is sticking to the Mixing Chamber wall. What should I do?
As the kneading paddle turns, dough that is stuck to the wall should be grabbed and mixed with the main dough mixture. If the dough is not mixing together after a few minutes, you can pause the machine and use the Spatula/Cleaning Tool to remove it from the Mixing Chamber wall. Dough sticking to the wall might be a sign that the dough is too wet.

The dough is dry and stuck inside the unit. Why?
You may have used too much flour. The Dry Measuring Container holds 1 ¼ cups of dry ingredients. Check to see how many “cups” of flour you used in the recipe. Each Dry Measuring Container equals 1 batch of flour. See the how-to videos for assistance. Click to watch How to Make Pasta Video.

How do I use the Dry Measuring Container? How much does it hold?
The dry measuring container holds 1 ¼ cups of dry ingredients. Each Dry Measuring Container equals 1 batch of flour. Watch the how-to videos to learn how to make perfect pasta. Click to watch How to Make Pasta Video.

The unit has stopped with an E1 error. What should I do?
An E1 error means the motor stopped. This can happen if the pasta dough is too dry and the mixing paddle is clogged. Check the ingredients and make sure the dough is not too dry.

For dry pasta, start the recipe over or add water to match the quantity of flour. If juicing, extruding frozen treats, or shredding/slicing, ensure that the food being extruded is not being forced through the unit. Remove some of the food and restart the unit. The Backward Button can be pressed and held down to help move the food and reposition.

How do I use the dry measuring cup? How much does it hold?

The egg did not flow into the dough and is sitting in the liquid area of the lid. How do I get it to mix into the flour?
Use a spatula to push the mixture into the Mixing Chamber. You can also take a fork and tap it on the chamber lid near the egg to dislodge it. It is best to whisk or beat the egg(s) before pouring it into the Liquid Measuring Container and then pouring the liquid ingredients into the unit.

The lasagna/ravioli noodles are curling and will not lay flat, why?
If the noodle is curling, it may be too dry. Add 1 tablespoon of water, mix the dough, and extrude it. The noodle should extrude with a slight curl on the edges that can be flattened out when laid flat.

Why is the box large?
The pasta maker and additional housings are packaged in a few different compartments in the box which requires a larger amount of space.

Where are the Pasta Discs located when I first unpack or unbox the appliance?
When unpacking the Emeril Lagasse® Pasta and Beyond™, the 7 pasta discs are stored in the Storage Tray, which is located beneath the Mixing Chamber. The Spaghetti disc comes pre-assembled in the Mixing Chamber.

Will the appliance work with 220 voltage or convertor?
No. Please see the instructional booklet, which says: “The appliance will not work with a 220-volt power supply and should not be used with a converter. Using a converter could damage the appliance, the converter, and the outlet. Using a converter will invalidate the guarantee and any protection plan policy.”
